THE SHEEP OF ABRUZZO
The sheep with its woolen coat designed as the typical jewel of Abruzzi – the “presentosa” which was given as a love promise to young women from their lovers – represents the fusion of past and present. On the mug the old shepherd tradition is also celebrated with a few lines taken from Gabriele D’Annunzio’s poem “the shepherds” where the poet away from home longs for his shepherds’ company.
